Rural Healthcare Group to Acquire Steward Medical Group and Steward Health Care Network

Rural Healthcare Group (RHG), a Nashville-based primary care provider, has announced its plan to acquire Steward Medical Group and Steward Health Care Network, a physician-led multispecialty organization. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Steward Medical Group and Steward Health Care Network operate across 11 states, with more than 1,700 providers offering primary care and specialty services, particularly in Massachusetts and several other states. RHG intends to make substantial investments in Stewardship’s infrastructure to ensure that providers can continue to serve patients in their existing clinics.

Under the leadership of CEO Benson Sloan, RHG focuses on delivering healthcare to underserved communities across multiple states. The organization currently operates 17 clinics in two states and is backed by Kinderhook Industries, LLC, a private investment firm that focuses on mid-sized healthcare businesses. Kinderhook’s investments aim to preserve and enhance access to high-quality healthcare in underserved communities across the nation.
