Elemental Impact Reveal $100M Funding to Scale Climate Technologies

Elemental Impact, a pioneering nonprofit climate technology investor, has announced a $100 million funding program, opening opportunities for climate-focused projects to receive investment through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). The funding, made available via a subaward from the Coalition for Green Capital (CGC), aims to support entrepreneurs and technologies that are prepared to scale and capable of delivering significant greenhouse gas emission reductions, along with benefits to local communities.

Entrepreneurs and companies can submit their proposals through Elemental Impact’s platform at elementalimpact.com, seeking investment to advance climate solutions across sectors such as energy, transportation, water, agriculture, and industry.

Expanding Platform for Climate Innovation

Elemental Impact, previously known as Elemental Excelerator, is building on its extensive portfolio of climate initiatives, leveraging its 15 years of experience investing in climate tech. The organization, now operating under its new name, reflects its evolution into a broader investing platform that incorporates both nonprofit and private funding streams.

Elemental Impact’s platform is bolstered by $210 million in philanthropic and public funding and includes Earthshot Ventures, a $94 million venture fund launched in 2021. With the $100 million GGRF funding, Elemental Impact plans to expand its investment reach, making both equity and debt investments that accelerate climate technologies and stimulate green infrastructure in underserved communities.

“We’ve invested in over 150 companies scaling critical innovations, and it’s clear that the climate sector needs more than just technology solutions—it needs new approaches to finance, community partnership, and project execution,” said Dawn Lippert, founder and CEO of Elemental Impact. “This new phase of our platform is about ensuring that where we invest now will impact the next hundred years.”

Elemental Impact’s role in the GGRF is part of a broader collaboration aimed at mobilizing financing and private capital to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution. In addition to receiving a subaward from CGC, Elemental will work as a transaction partner with Climate United and as a deployment partner with Power Forward Communities. The organization’s extensive network of more than 1,000 co-investors will further amplify the impact of the $100 million fund, aligning with the EPA’s goal of scaling green infrastructure and clean energy projects nationwide.

Eli Hopson, Chief Administrative Officer of CGC, emphasized the importance of the initiative: “Through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, we are making historic investments in the fight against climate change. Elemental is leading the way, bringing clean energy investments to all communities, especially those traditionally underserved by finance.”

Elemental’s track record in climate innovation has attracted notable backers. Maria Kozloski, Senior Vice President of Innovative Finance at The Rockefeller Foundation, praised the nonprofit’s work: “Elemental’s support for frontline communities has been pivotal, and we are excited about the additional impact they will make through this new investment.”

Naveen Sikka, board member of Elemental and CEO of Terviva, one of Elemental’s earliest investments, echoed the sentiment: “This funding provides exactly what the climate innovation field needs—capital and expert support to enable scale. Elemental has consistently delivered this, and with this new funding, they are set to make an even greater impact.”

As Elemental Impact continues to expand its platform and mobilize capital, its innovative approach to climate technology investment stands to shape the future of sustainable infrastructure and drive significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The organization remains focused on providing both financial and community support to ensure long-term success for climate entrepreneurs and the communities they serve.
