The design of AI models is facing potential disastrous consequences, as reported by an inter-university team of computer scientists from the University of Toronto and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The way AI models are currently being trained on vast amounts of data is considered deeply flawed.
The scientists highlighted in their recent paper in Science that AI systems trained on descriptive data tend to make much harsher decisions than humans would make. If not corrected, such AI systems could cause havoc in areas of decision-making, potentially leading to negative outcomes in various fields.
